Keeping it consistent: how we stretched ourselves for Lycra

Here at McFeggan Brown, we work with a whole range of clients, from mid-sized local companies, to internationally-renowned household names. It was one of the latter, Lycra, which commissioned us to create a new 5,000 sq. ft. headquarters in a Gloucester retail park.

In some cases, we’re required to work around a company in its existing office space as their day-to-day business has to continue uninterrupted. In Lycra's case, however, we had a blank canvas to work on: empty premises. But in either instance, it's our level of attention to detail and consistency in carrying out the company's requirements and branding in any new interior that really sets us apart.

Lycra asked us to fit-out for around a dozen staff, with a board room and small meeting room, an impressive reception area, breakout zones, kitchen area, and individual offices for senior management. Working within very specific brand guidelines, we were able to integrate the whole Lycra ethos right into the bricks and mortar, down to the smallest aspect of every piece of furniture and fitting.

We wrapped branded imagery carefully around the physical fixtures of the space, and used the highly specific colour palette that the branding guidelines dictated. This full design and build project drew on every skill we offer!

It's the level of detail which makes all the difference between a space that impresses visitors and inspires staff, and one that somehow isn't just ‘quite right’. In the case of the Lycra corporate HQ, our consistent approach – right down to bespoke-designed furniture – was what, we think, made all the difference.

As well as the creation of the new office spaces, we also made sure that details like data networking, occasional furniture, acoustic design, and even the moving logistics from old premises to new, were all planned and carried out seamlessly. The whole process was made as painless as possible – this is something we pride ourselves on.

The reception area we created for Lycra is particularly striking, as it's the one area of any office space that creates a lasting impression on visitors — often potential new clients on whom it's important to make a positive impression.

Lycra's striking and professional decor really gives a high-end message, and that was achieved by making sure every aspect was covered off, from the trunking, down through acoustic baffles and ceiling tiles, interior decor and even flooring. The effect of the whole environment is much greater than the sum of its parts.

If you're relocating to new offices, or just need to refresh your current working space, get in touch. Our unique designs will reflect and express your organisation's brand, and make all the right impressions, where they count the most.
